Raw, moody, almost infinite, with a gentle fluidity between two distinct materials: hammered patinated niobium and a rough tourmaline crystal. This almost monochromatic textural combination is based on a palette of matte anthracite, mossy green and inky gradients of blue. Rough tourmaline crystals are collected from various locations around the world, which include mines in Brazil, Nigeria, Madagascar, Mozambique, Pakistan, Indonesia and most recently discovered in Ethiopia.
Rough tourmaline crystals are partially cut before they are tension set in niobium to precisely fit the width of a ring. Only particular size and shape crystals are each selected by the artist individually. Each piece is unique, the image represents the exact piece by the size selected. For custom size inquiries, tourmaline colours hailing from a range of black, blue and green shall be picked upon request.
Each piece is unique and entirely handcrafted by the artist. Patinated using self-developed undisclosed technology. Artisanal metalwork techniques are combined with experimental practices. There is no glue, artificial colouring or chemicals used in the process.

Short description
Niobium is a light grey, lustrous, paramagnetic metal and is considered a technology-critical element. It is used in various superconducting materials, nuclear industries, electronics and optics. With my work, I want to talk about the language of materials and contribute to the understanding that each material has its own unseen potential. My metal patinatination process is the fruit of perpetual research, and the result of a slow and meticulous artisanal method, striving to achieve something that is both a wearable object and an artwork.
With conventionally unwearable materials, uniquely textured designs and refined details, I wish to evoke a subtle sense of luxury, and a fresh perspective on jewellery design. Minimalist yet sculptural and contemporary, I cultivate aesthetics with little adornment or embellishment, which parts ways with any typical visual motifs associated with jewellery. Still, with a deliberately simplistic design statement, I remain embedded in unique jewellery-making techniques, epitomising material restraint and craftsmanship. Created with Earth’s rarest materials and a burning passion for quality, my handmade jewels reflect my pursuit of raw, spontaneous beauty as well as commitment to sustainability.
